HYBRID BUILDINGS

WHAT ARE THEY

An engineered wood and steel-frame system that use structural insulated panels to create a clean, well-insulated envelope.

HOW ARE THEY ERECTED?

All components come to the site pre-cut and fabricated, erection is in a matter of days.

HOW DO THEY WORK

FOUNDATION

The building is anchored to a conventional foundation using anchor bolts.

STRUCTURE

Steel posts, up to 26 feet in height, spaced at nominally 24' on-centre carry wood or steel rafters connected by wood purlins.

Heavy glue laminated components give a beautiful, open look to the structure.

Energy efficient SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) are used for cladding all sides of the structure and can be up to R-60.

ROOF

Rafters are made from glue-laminated (glulam) softwood and are connected by glulam purlins.

Another option is using steel rafters with glulam purlins.

THE HYBRID ADVANTAGE

Lamina Wood Inc is Atlantic Canada's pre-engineered wood specialist and offers design/engineering, component manufacturing and a range of accessory materials in house.

We insist that our Hybrid buildings be erected only by those proficient in construction and who hold all of the necessary industry qualifications.

All of our buildings come complete with engineered drawings of the structure that are valid in Atlantic Canada. In addition to basic structural engineering, we can provide a complete engineering and design package through a partner engineering consultancy.
